Finland won the historical gold medals in the Olympic thriller
The Olympic tournament had come to the moment in which only two teams were left to compete. Finland and the team ROC faced each other in the final game on Sunday morning. The Finnish Lions made their way through to the climax by winning Slovakia in the semi-final. Slovakia later defeated Sweden in the bronze medal game.
CSKA wins the Russian Classic
Another huge crowd came out to watch SKA take on CSKA in this year’s Russian Classic. The Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg welcomed 61,810 fans for Thursday’s game – the second highest attendance ever for a club hockey game in Europe. The European record was set last season when the same teams attracted 67,770 to the first ever Russian Classic game at the World Cup soccer stadium.
