Salavat makes it in game seven
A hard-fought 2-1 victory for Salavat Yulaev sealed a 4-3 win in its KHL playoff series against Sibir. That completes the first round of this year’s post season. In the second round, with teams playing cross-conference pairs, Western top seed Lokomotiv faces Avangard (starting Friday) and second seed Dynamo will take on Ak Bars (starting Saturday). The top Eastern seed, Traktor, plays Dinamo Minsk (also starting Saturday) and Salavat Yulaev is up against Spartak.
Game seven between Salavat Yulaev and Sibir!
The Eastern Conference feels the excitement of a seventh game again after yesterday’s decider between Avtomobilist and Ak Bars. Today’s game will wrap up the Gagarin Cup playoffs’ first round as the elimination stage shifts to the second round, where the teams will be able to challenge opponents from the other Conference as well, just like it was last year. However, Metallurg won’t be able to defend its title after losing to Avangard.
Traktor progresses, Sibir forces game seven
Sunday’s Eastern Conference action brought one more series winner and set up another game seven. Traktor’s 2-0 victory at Admiral put Benoit Groulx’s team through to the second round of the 2025 KHL playoffs. Meanwhile, Sibir defeated Salavat Yulaev 5-2 to send the teams back to Ufa for a final showdown on Tuesday.
One step from game seven: will the chasers turn the tide?
Game 6 drama takes center stage across the league, with three teams aiming to force a decisive showdown. Admiral, SKA, and Sibir all return home with their seasons on the line, hoping to channel the energy of the friendly walls and flip the script in their series. Traktor, Dynamo Moscow, and Salavat Yulaev, meanwhile, are just one win away from sealing their spot in the next round. With emotions running high and momentum swinging wildly, expect intensity, highlight-reel plays, and playoff tension at its finest. Will the chasers turn the tide?
Traktor rallies from 0-4, Ufa moves back in front
Both Eastern Conference series were locked at 2-2 going into Friday’s games. Admiral must have thought it was destined to leave Chelyabinsk with a 3-2 advantage when it led 4-0 at the second intermission. But Traktor pulled off a spectacular fightback to tie the game in the third period and win in overtime. Salavat Yulaev also came from behind, albeit in less spectacular fashion. Sheldon Rempal’s hat-trick amply cancelled out Sibir’s early goal in Ufa, paving the way for a 5-2 victory.
Key battles today as series hit crucial game five
Traktor and Admiral return to the Urals with the series finely poised after a dramatic game four. In Ufa, Salavat Yulaev looks to rediscover its scoring form against a resurgent Sibir. Dynamo Moscow stands on the brink of the second round but must overcome a determined SKA side desperate to stay alive. With every series tied or nearing a conclusion, the stakes couldn’t be higher as teams battle for control. Expect high-intensity action and key performances to shape the road ahead in the Gagarin Cup Playoffs.
All square in the East
Victories for Traktor and Sibir mean both of these Eastern Conference series are locked at 2-2. However, the two games were very different. Maxim Shabanov powered Traktor’s rally from 1-3, with five points in a 7-3 win. Sibir, meanwhile, edged past Salavat Yulaev with a 2-1 scoreline.
Lokomotiv with a chance to close out first-round series
The KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs continue with pivotal matchups across both conferences. Sibir aims to even the series against Salavat Yulaev after shutting them out at home. Torpedo faces elimination against Lokomotiv, needing a win to stay alive. Meanwhile, SKA seeks to build on its first series victory as Dynamo Moscow tries to regain control. Key milestones are also in sight, making today’s action a must-watch.
Soshnikov hits game-winning hat-trick, Ufa misfires at Sibir
It’s all about goals. Scoring them, like Nikita Soshnikov, and stopping them, like Anton Krasotkin and Denis Kostin. Admiral’s Soshnikov potted a hat-trick, including the overtime winner, as the Sailors regained the lead in their series against Traktor. And Sibir’s goalies pooled their efforts to silence Salavat Yulaev’s offense: 15 goals in two games from Ufa, but none in the third as the Siberians grabbed a vital 2-0 victory.
Crunch time as series shift: can the trailing teams respond?
The battle for the next round intensifies as all series shift venues for Game three. In the East, top-seeded Traktor looks to build on its OT win as the action moves to Vladivostok, while Salavat Yulaev aims to continue its dominance against Sibir. Over in the West, Lokomotiv’s defensive wall travels to Nizhny Novgorod to face a determined Torpedo, and SKA returns home looking to turn the tide against Dynamo Moscow. With all teams adjusting to new surroundings, the stakes are higher than ever as the Gagarin Cup playoffs heat up.
Wilson shines for rampant Ufa, Traktor ties series
Salavat Yulaev made it 15 goals in two games, and Scott Wilson had 6 (3+3) points in today’s 8-2 win over Sibir. While that series is firmly in Ufa’s favor, the Traktor vs Admiral pairing is locked at 1-1. Traktor recovered from dropping the opening game but needed overtime to beat the eighth seed.
Traktor seeking first win as playoff pressure mounts
The Eastern Conference’s leader was surprised by Admiral in the first game and will be looking to tie things up in the second clash. Salavat Yulaev will be seeking a second triumph after thumping Sibir two days ago. In the West, the leading teams started strong, but while Lokomotiv looked like too much to handle for Torpedo, the series between Dynamo Moscow and SKA seems to be more open to different outcomes after the first contest.
Sensation in Chelyabinsk, rout in Ufa
Day two of the playoffs brought two contrasting games for the Eastern Conference contenders. Eighth-seed Admiral produced one of the biggest ever post-season shocks, winning 5-4 at table-topping Traktor. While that game was tight and tense, Salavat Yulaev’s win at home to Sibir was anything but: a rash of second-period penalties helped the host to a 7-0 verdict.

Metallurg finished third, going down in Yekaterinburg as Avtomobilist secured fourth place. Magnitka will start the playoffs at home to Avangard, 5-1 winners over Kunlun; Avto entertains Ak Bars, OT winners at Sibir. His game winner at Sibir also lifted his team back into second place in the Eastern Conference, a point clear of Metallurg. Ak Bars thrashed Barys 8-0 to stay in the race for a top-four finish in the East, but Avangard will not have home ice advantage at the start of the playoffs: needing a regulation win at Vityaz to stay in contention, the Hawks went to overtime before edging a 3-2 verdict. Avtomobilist remains fourth thanks to a shoot-out win over SKA. That result, coupled with Severstal’s win at Torpedo, leaves SKA in danger of finishing seventh in the West – its worst regular season result in the KHL. A 2-1 victory over Torpedo saw Avtomobilist celebrate its first success at the new UGMK Arena in Yekaterinburg. The result snapped a four-game skid for the Motormen, and also means that Torpedo can finish no higher than eighth in the West – setting up a playoff meeting with Lokomotiv. That was confirmed as Severstal beat Dinamo Minsk in a high-scoring game in Severstal. There were goals in Vladivostok as well, with Barys coming from 1-4 to beat Admiral in a shoot-out.
