Team Chernyshev 9 Team Bobrov 8 (3-3, 6-5)
Sibir defenseman Trevor Murphy has already set a club scoring record in this season’s KHL. Now he’s added another goal feat – blasting a hat-trick in Novosibirsk to lead Team Chernyshev to gold in the All-Star Game.
Trevor Murphy, Sibir and Team Chernyshev
- That was an unbelievable event. Everyone knows very well what kind of fans we have at Sibir and I’m proud to represent this club at the All-Star Game. The atmosphere is always excellent at these games but here, in our own building, it was something special. We’re delighted that we could fight back and win the game.
Murphy’s early contributions helped his team rally from 0-3 after Team Bobrov made a fast start to the final. Alexei Zhamnov leaned on his Spartak forwards to build an early lead – Ivan Morozov and Pavel Poryadin combined for the opener, then Nikolai Goldobin joined in as Poryadin scored the third. In between Dmitry Buchelnikov also found the Chernyshev net.
But Daniil Gutik pulled one back, then Murphy scored twice in 40 seconds to tie the game at the first intermission.
Semyon Chistyakov, Avangard and Team Chernyshev:
- It was unforgettable! It’s my first time here, the atmosphere was incredible. Everyone had a great time, we could relax a little and reset. Now we’re back to the battle and we’ll get ready for the upcoming KHL games. We all understood that for our division this was a home tournament and we wanted to win. The final could have gone either way. The fans were super – the guys from Novosibirsk and the ones who travelled from other cities.
At the start of the second period, Team Chernyshev got in front for the first time on goals from junior Maxim Filimonov and Salavat Yulaev star Alexander Chmelevski. When Murphy completed his hat-trick, the score was 7-4 and Sibir captain Sergei Shirokov had an assist, then a goal to build a comfortable 9-5 lead with two minutes to play.
Game over? Not quite. Team Bobrov fought back to win its semi-final and almost managed to stage a repeat rally here. Three goals in 67 seconds ensured an anxious finale, but the clock ran down before Zhamnov’s team could finish the job. Shirokov’s goal turned out to be the winner as Team Chernyshev claimed the 5 million-ruble prize; Murphy’s hat-trick secured him MVP status and a 500,000-ruble bonus.
Viktor Kozlov, head coach Team Chernyshev and Salavat Yulaev:
- We had a good team, and it was nice to see so many of our fans who travelled to root for our guys. And the guys themselves wanted to win for their kids, who really wanted those medals. There was a great atmosphere, especially the way the fans got behind us after the first period. I’ll never forget it!
Team Kharlamov 12 Team Tarasov 13 SO (6-5, 6-7, 0-1)
Team Tarasov took bronze at the 2025 Fonbet KHL All-Star Game after a goal festival in Novosibirsk. After trading 24 markers with Team Kharlamov, it all came down to a shoot-out and CSKA’s Ruslan Iskhakov potted the decider.
Igor Ozhiganov, Dynamo Moscow and Team Tarasov:
- I think it was a success! The main thing was that the fans enjoyed themselves, and that’s what happened. Everyone had a good time, there were lots of children, it was a real festival of hockey. I brought my son with me. He plays hockey, and he got to see everything here. I hope it will motivate him. There are great fans here, it’s a modern arena and all the facilities are impressive.
Before that, a capacity crowd at the Sibir Arena was treated to an entertaining contest. Goals came at regular intervals as the lead changed hands repeatedly. Team Kharlamov jumped to a 3-0 advantage, led 5-2, then was pegged back to 5-5 in the first period. Team Tarasov got in front for the first time after the intermission, but its 8-6 lead evaporated and it had to rally from 9-11 to save the game. Nikita Gusev’s last-minute goal secured a 12-12 tie and sent the game to that shoot-out.
Gusev scored a hat-trick, putting him in front of a clutch of players on two goals. But the MVP award – and with it a 500,000 ruble prize – went to junior star Sergei Lukyantsev. The Spartak junior, invited to the party after starring in last week’s JHL Challenge Cup, had two goals and two assists in Team Tarasov’s success. Fellow junior Yaromir Yermakov of AKM Tula and Team Kharlamov also scored twice in the game.
Martin Gernat, Lokomotiv and Team Tarasov:
- This was a great event for us, we enjoyed every moment of it. It was welcoming, well-organized, everything was perfect. It was cool to see the top players from around the league and to spend some time with guys like Vadim Shipachyov and Nikita Gusev. The atmosphere was incredible, the building was full – what more could a player want?
Day two of the Skill Show started with the goalies showing their skills. Four competitors – Zach Fucale (Traktor / Kharlamov), Maxim Dorozhko (Vityaz / Bobrov), Vladislav Podyapolsky (Dynamo Moscow / Tarasov) and Denis Kostin (Sibir / Chernyshev) – faced a fusillade of nine attempts on their net.
In the first round, Podyapolsky stopped six efforts, Kostin seven. Fucale and Dorozhko were tied on eight saves apiece. That forced a shoot-out tie-break, where Traktor’s Fucale got a little help from his clubmate Maxim Shabanov. The Canadian stopped every attempt on his goal, while Shabanov scored on Dorozhko to give Fucale the win.
Zach Fucale, Traktor and Team Kharlamov:
- It was fun. Novosibirsk is a really welcoming city, the organization was top class. I’m grateful to the city and the KHL. Everyone who took part really enjoyed the weekend. I didn’t stress too much about the Skill Show, I wasn’t promising the guys that I’d stop every shot. Everyone in the contest is a great guy, I just managed to make one more save. Winning the contest wasn’t really my aim here, I just wanted to relax and enjoy myself.
The Skill Show finished with the Captains’ Contest. Alexander Nikishin (SKA / Bobrov), Vadim Shipachyov (Dinamo Minsk / Tarasov), Yegor Yakovlev (Metallurg / Kharlamov) and Sergei Shirokov (Sibir / Chernyshev) did battle through six challenges.
Nikishin, who won this event in Chelyabinsk in 2022, went first but this time he managed just one point. Yakovlev had six points, but the real battle came between KHL record scorer Shipachyov and hometown favorite Shirokov. Vadim came out on top by a narrow margin - nine points to eight.
Vadim Shipachyov, Dinamo Minsk and Team Tarasov:
– It’s a lot of fun, there’s been a great atmosphere both days. The fans are first-class, a good laugh. It’s nice to see players bringing their kids. They go to a lot of the games, cheer for us. For them, it’s also part of the show. I’m all for seeing the kids enjoy themselves and have a good time. In the Captains’ Contest, Nikisha (Alexander Nikishin) went in cold, he said neither his hands nor his gloves were working. But Yegor (Yakovlev) and I had already played. It was nice to get the win. The fans in Novosibirsk are great, they really love their hockey. When the building is full and everyone is happy, that speaks to them enjoying what we’re doing. And that’s great for us.
