As usual, the regular season starts on September 1 with the traditional Opening Cup game. Moscow’s CSKA Arena will host a showdown between CSKA and Avangard. Back in April, for the first time, the Gagarin Cup was lifted by the regular season champion – so the big curtain-raiser is a reprise of the playoff grand final.
In total, 24 teams will play 744 games in the 2019/20 regular season. The action runs from Sep. 1 to Feb. 27 … and then the playoffs get underway.
