Vityaz went to Switzerland and won the Luhner Cup, a three-team tournament also involving locals Ambri-Piotta and Germany’s Adler Mannheim.

The opening game for Vityaz ended in an overtime win against Ambri-Piotta, courtesy of Croatian forward Borna Rendulic. Sunday’s decisive game also saw Rendulic on the scoresheet as the Vityaz power play strutted its stuff.
Rendulic converted a first-period PP opportunity, but that goal was cancelled out by Tommi Huhtala, a familiar face from his time with Jokerit. Another Finn, however, was on hand to seal the deal for Vityaz. Miro Aaltonen, back at the club after a season in North America, added two further power play goals to secure a 3-1 scoreline.
