Sadecky's solo salvo; Dawes's diving strike. Top Ten Goals and Saves

The greatest goals and most spectacular saves, starring Boris Sadecky, Ilya Ezhov, Nikita Yazkov, Konstantin Barulin, Nigel Dawes and Ben Scrivens – the KHL is proud to bring you the best moments from the tenth week of the tenth Championship.

Top 10 Goals: Sadecky's sensational solo strike

We begin our countdown of the most spectacular goals of the past week with a fine pass from behind the goal by Spartak forward Alexander Khokhlachyov to set up Artyom Podshendyalov, followed by a similar move from the Black Sea boys of HC Sochi, with Canada's Eric O'Dell presenting young Ivan Larichev with a chance he was never going to spurn. Jokerit's teenage sensation Eeli Tolvanen continues to delight the hockey public, and he was named Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, thanks in part to this goal – a lightning strike from a tight angle. Next is a wonderful short-handed goal from Salavat Yulaev forward Maxim Mayorov, darting past two Lada defensemen and deftly directing the puck through the five-hole. Our sixth finest goal of the week comes from the Army Men derby, in which SKA alternate captain Ilya Kovalchuk hit the Muscovites with a hat-trick. The best of the three was a cool finish after a superb burst and assist from Nikolai Prokhorkin, who was falling to the ice when he made the killer pass.

Into the top five, and another appearance from Spartak, whose run of five straight wins included a triumph over crosstown rivals Dynamo. The score was tight at 1-0 when in a dashing counter-attack ended with Czech forward Lukas Radil providing the ammunition for Vyacheslav Leshchenko to double the Red-and-Whites' lead. Next is a sublime combination from Jokerit which carved open the Dinamo Minsk defense. Jesse Joensuu charged through the center, drew an escort of opponents, and then slipped a perfect pass to American forward Brian O'Neill, who swiftly advanced and sent the puck through the goalie's legs. The League's top goal-scorer at present is Barys danger man Nigel Dawes, and Jokerit was the hapless victim when he struck our third-finest goal of the week – he took a pass in the slot, lost his footing trying to lose a defenseman, but somehow managed to roof the puck while falling to the ice. Even better was the splendid solo effort from Ak Bars forward Nikita Yazkov, racing from the red line and ruthlessly finishing what he had started, and our Goal of the Week is another “Lone Ranger” strike, and it came from 20-year-old Slovan forward Boris Sadecky to level the score against Lokomotiv. Absolutely unstoppable, and a must-see.

Top 10 Saves: Ezhov's acrobatics sink Admiral

We begin our goaltending masterclass with Sibir's Alexei Krasikov, who in the match against Dinamo Riga showed how to move one way while closing off the other corner with a trailing skate – covering all angles, as they say. Next is Vladimir Sokhatsky of Avtomobilist, helping his team claim a valuable victory over Ak Bars by getting his pad in the way of a vicious shot from distance. At number 8 is a double stop from Barys netminder Sergei Kudryavtsev against Jokerit, saving two rapid strikes from formidable teenager Eeli Tolvanen. Magnus Hellberg of Kunlun Red Star demonstrated admirable vision against Admiral, anticipating the pass and getting a glove to the shot, and at number 6, Spartak's Alexander Trushkov showed maturity beyond his 21 years to keep track of a wayward puck and stop it from creeping over the line.

We start the Top 5 with two incredible saves from a graduate of the Yaroslavl academy, Anton Krasotkin, now minding the net for Lada. In the first, he shows off his reflexes to make a tremendous point-blank stop against Traktor, and then gives us a display of agility in getting across his goal to block a shot from Salavat Yulaev's Gleb Kuzmin. At number 3 we have Ufa and now Team Canada's last line of defense, Ben Scrivens, with a great diving save to break Magnitogorsk hearts, while our silver-medal stop is from Konstantin Barulin, somehow keeping the HC Sochi goal intact while under siege from Traktor's forwards. Our gold medal for goaltending exploits this week, however, goes to Ilya Ezhov of Neftekhimik, who almost did the splits in an acrobatic close-range save to deny Admiral's two-man raiding party.
