In response to a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has examined an episode which took place a few seconds into the 3rd minute of Tuesday's match in Bratislava between Slovan and Severstal Cherepovets.
Following a collision involving forwards Andrej Stastny (Slovan) and Nikolai Kazakovtsev (Severstal), the latter was given a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for boarding and injuring the former. After reviewing the incident, the Committee upheld the match referee's decision. Offenses of this nature, in which there is a risk of serious injury to a player, are subject to further disciplinary measures. In this case, Nikolai Kazakovtsev has been fined and disqualified for one game.
