Following a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated the role played by Spartak Moscow forward Denis Tolpeko in the brawling which broke out in the 31st minute of Saturday’s match against crosstown rivals CSKA.
After reviewing the incident, the Committee upheld the referee’s decision to punish the player with a double-minor plus major plus game misconduct penalty (4+5+20 minutes) for fisticuffs and for leaving the bench during a brawl, and as a result, Tolpeko receives a fine and a three-game suspension, to be served from the beginning of the 2017-18 season.
