In the regular-season matches #2 Avangard – Sibir, #13 Barys – Sibir, #30 Sibir – Barys, and #39 Sibir – Avtomobilist, Sibir violated subclause 2.3, clause 2, Article 41 of the KHL Sporting Regulations – exceeding the established limit on the number of players with the status of Foreign Player in the lineup for a particular match. The following players had this status in the mentioned games: Andy Andreoff, Taylor Beck, Fyodor Gordeyev, and Trevor Murphy.
According to clause 4, Article 30 of the KHL Disciplinary Regulations, the club is fined, and the results of the respective matches are annulled, with Sibir being credited with technical defeats (-:+).
In matches #2 and #39, Sibir suffered regulation losses. In accordance with subclause 1.1, clause 1, Article 15 of the KHL Sporting Regulations, in this case, the match results remain unchanged.
The individual statistics of the players in all four matches are preserved.
In accordance with the regulations, the responsibility for monitoring the number of foreign players declared by the club for a particular match lies with the club itself. The automated system for verifying the legitimacy of the selected players for participation in the match did not function.
After identifying the violation, an additional check was conducted on the seasonal sports citizenship status of Fyodor Gordeyev, who holds a Russian passport. As a result, it was confirmed that Gordeyev does not have the right to play for the Russian national team. It is worth noting that the club was aware of Gordeev’s foreign player status during the season registration procedurals.
