Vityaz, Severstal battle trying to revert the trend!
Today’s encounter is also very important in sight of the playoffs qualification, with Vityaz being the eighth seed in the West with a three-point gap over the Steelers. However, that’s not the only thing tonight – both teams will want to win to revert the trend after three straight losses. In its most recent effort, Severstal travelled to St. Petersburg and threw SKA a good challenge, but ended up on the losing side after an OT goal by Alexander Nikishin.
Vityaz also capitulated in OT it its latest game, with Dynamo Moscow’s Dmitry Rashevsky winning the game for the Blue-and-Whites on Wednesday. Forward Scott Wilson seems to be in excellent shape, with four tallies in two games – including a hat-trick to CSKA on Monday.
Alexander Samonov had his debut for Severstal against SKA, and he will most likely start again between the piping for the Steelers, as Dmitry Shugayev is still in the injury list.
