The Bobrov Division’s head coach will be Roman Rotenberg (SKA). This season, the St. Petersburg side won 25 games out of 30 and is the first team in the Western Conference and league’s standings.
Roman Rotenberg, SKA’s head coach:
“I want to thank everyone for their trust and support, it's an honor to participate in the All-Star Week. First of all, it’s a credit to the whole team, thank you all!
I attended all the KHL All-Star Games, most of all I remember the game on the Red Square. Now for the first time, I will come to the All-Star Week as a coach.
Chelyabinsk has a great hockey history, this city brought up a lot of legendary players and coaches: Bykov, Makarov, Babinov, Shuvalov. The fans there love and understand hockey. By the way, I was in Chelyabinsk for the All-Star Game in 2013. Everything was great then and I am sure that it will be even better now! I am looking forward to seeing a full house. See you soon!”
The Tarasov Division’s head coach will be Sergei Fedorov (CSKA). In 2022-2023, CSKA is the second team in the Western Conference, while last year it won the Gagarin Cup. Moreover, Fedorov took part in three All-Star Games as a player.
The Kharlamov Division’s head coach will be Ilya Vorobyov (Metallurg). Vorobyov will be the only coach at the current Fonbet All-Star Games with previous experience of working in other All-Star Weekends – it will be Vorobyov’s fourth career appearance.
Ilya Vorobyov, Metallurg’s head coach:
“Thanks to the League for the invitation. This is a great celebration of hockey, it hasn’t been around lately due to the covid. So now I’m sure it will be very interesting and diverse in Chelyabinsk. I should repeat that the All-Star Game is a real hockey feast and an excellent advertisement of our favorite sport! I haven’t had time to look at the rosters yet, but I know a little bit about who’s on our team (laughs). Is it a competition or a celebration? More of a celebration, yes, but there is always a sporting component, it’s always exciting to win!”
The Chernyshev’s Division’s head coach will be Viktor Kozlov (Salavat Yulaev). The Ufa side is currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference, and they are using a rather young lineup.
Viktor Kozlov, Salavat Yulaev’s head coach:
“It's a pleasure and an honor to participate in the All-Star Game. But I would like to say that it’s a credit to the entire Salavat Yulayev organization, the coaching staff and, first and foremost, the team and the guys. I was selected thanks to them.
To be honest, I didn’t follow who made the team of the Chernyshev Division. It’s a pleasant surprise for me, so let’s get to work!
The All-Star Game is a show for the fans, a good opportunity for the crowd to see many of the League’s stars in one place.”
The Fonbet KHL All-Star Game is scheduled for Dec 10-11 in Chelyabinsk. Tickets are on sale at allstarweek.com.
