Green derby, part 4, in Kazan!
The Green Derby is always the most awaited game of the night, and today it’s no exception with the fourth clash of the two teams this season, with Ufa so far having the upper hand with two wins against Ak Bars’ one. Moreover, the Bashkortostan franchise is currently the second seed in the East, while Kazan moved past the playoffs line and is currently sitting on a disappointing nine place.
The KHL matchday, however, starts earlier, with a Siberian derby between Avangard and Sibir (with the teams exchanging wins so far in the seasons), Barys hosting Admiral, and Avtomobilist welcoming Amur. Another eastern game is on tap as Neftekhimik faces CSKA – the Muscovites are on an incredible eleven-game run, and they are looking for recording another victory when the Wolves lack their starting goalie, Emil Garipov.
In the Western Conference, emotions are guaranteed by a showdown between Lokomotiv and Metallurg. Magnitka is having a tremendous season so far, leading the Eastern Conference, but their loss in Moscow to Dynamo wasn’t certainly welcomed by the Ilya Vorobyov’s men, who will try to get a morale boost in the game against the Railwaymen. The Yaroslavl franchise, however, isn’t going to give up a game just because, and will rely on goalie Ivan Bocharov, who was just awarded goaltender of the month awards.
