The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best players of the Regular Season’s fifth week in four categories.

Last week, the League’s teams played a total of 26 games, with 539 players (38 goalies, 179 defensemen, and 322 forwards) taking part in the action.

— Best goalie was Ilya Ezhov (Vityaz), who won two games last week: first over Avangard (2-1 SO), then against Dinamo Riga (6-1). Ezhov faced 55 shots, stopping the 96.36% and posting a goals-against average of 0,96. The Vityaz’s netminder logged a shutout streak of 52 minutes and 33 seconds. All three figures are the best of the week.


— Best defenseman was Nick Bailen (Traktor), who won two away games of two last week with his team. The Chelyabinsk defenseman scored 4 (1+3) points, posted no negative ratings, and finished the week being plus-2. Bailen had five shots on goal, logged an average time on ice of 17 minutes and 59 seconds, and blocked two shots from the opposition.


— Best forward was Niklas Jensen (Jokerit), who won two away games of three last week with his team. The Danish international scored 5 (4+1) points, a fruit of a double against Avangard and goals against Severstal and Lokomotiv. Jensen had 12 shots on goal, logged an average time on ice of 17 minutes and 19 seconds, recorded four hits, and blocked one shot from the opposition.


— Best rookie was forward Yegor Chinakhov (Avangard), who scored four goals last week. The 19-years-old forward scored in all the games and had his first double in the KHL against Jokerit. Chinakhov had seven shots on goal, logged an average time on ice of 17 minutes and 3 seconds, and recorded three hits.
