The third month of this seasons photo contest, organized by the KHL and Canon, has come to an end. From October 1, accredited photographers around the league have been submitting their favorite shots in two categories – ‘sport’ and ‘fans’. Each month, the top five in each category will go through to the final stage.
The KHL regular season is entering its final stage and the playoffs are upcoming. The first playoffs participants are already known, but the battle for the remaining seeds is fiercer than ever.
This means that every day the pressure is higher, the public is more interested and the results are harder and harder to forecast. Accordingly, the number of participant to the KHL and Canon contest is raising, such as the number of photographs taken at KHL matches and submitted to the jury.
The photo contest is attracting entries from far and wide, taking in almost every city in the league. This season, only accredited KHL photographers can enter.
Every month, the jury selects its top five shots in each of the two categories – ‘sport’ and ‘fans’. The overall winners of the competition will be announced at the end of April.
The jury includes Sergey Kivrin and Andrey Golovanov – both masters of sports photography in Russia; Innokenty Pan – representative of the support program for professional photographers to Canon in Russia; Vladimir Bezzubov – head of the KHL photo Agency; Alexander Yakushev – two-time Olympic Champion and Russian hockey legend; Pavel Datsyuk – Russian hockey star, captain of KHL champion SKA; and top journalists from the country’s best media outlets.
The winner of the photo contest in the Sport category will become the proud owner of a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera and will be invited to attend the Closing Ceremony of the KHL season 2017/2018.
The winner in the Fans category will be awarded a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM lens.
Don’t forget, in order to submit your entries, you must register at canon.khl.ru and upload your work. Each photo should have a title, a short description and technical specifications. Any entrant can submit up to five images a month in each category.
