The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best player of the third month of the Regular Season – December – in four categories.
- best goalie was Ilya Sorokin (CSKA), who won all the six games he played in November, allowing only two goals. The Red Army goalie had four shutouts (two of them in away games), with a shutout streak of 246 minutes and 55 seconds. Sorokin posted a saves percentage of 98,46% and a goals-against average of 0,33. He also had an assist against Vityaz.
- best defenseman was Darren Dietz (Barys), who had 12 (3+9) points in 10 games (best result of the month among defensemen), with a plus-9 rating. The Kazakhstani club’s defenseman scored a double in only 24 seconds against Traktor. In November, Dietz also scored the game-winning goal against Severstal. The Canadian defenseman posted an average time on ice of 24 minutes and 19 seconds, had 44 shots on goal, recorded 14 hits, and blocked seven shots from the opposition.
- best forward was Nigel Dawes (Avtomobilist), who had 14 (7+7) points in 10 games (best result of the month among forwards). The forward scored doubles in the games against HC Sochi and Neftekhimik. Dawes scored points in eight of ten games, had 39 shots on goal and recorded 14 hits.
- best rookie was forward Nikita Mikhailov (Sibir), who had 4 (3+1) points in nine games, scoring a double against Kunlun Red Star – his first double in the KHL. The 20-year-old forward had an average time on ice of 13 minutes and 53 seconds, posted 11 shots on goal and blocked seven shots from the opposition.
