To mark the end of the final week’s play of the regular season, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Julius Hudacek (Severstal), who allowed just a solitary goal in two road matches. The 29-year-old Slovak achieved the best save percentage (98.36) and goals against average (0.48) of any goalie in the League, and his shutout series stretched to 118 minutes.
– Best defenseman was Charles Genoway (Lada), who made two appearances (one on the road), averaging 22 minutes 46 seconds on the ice. The 31-year-old Canadian ended the week with 3 assists, 5 shots, and a +3,
– Best forward was Linus Omark (Salavat Yulaev), who in two matches tallied 4 (1+3) points (the best haul of any player in the League). The Swedish danger man earned a positive rating in both outings, meriting a +3 for the week;
– Best rookie, for the sixth time this season, was 18-year-old forward Eeli Tolvanen (Jokerit) whose figures for the week show a goal in each game (against SKA and Dinamo Riga), a +2 rating, 6 shots at goal,3 hits, and an average 15 minutes 52 seconds of ice time..
