Sibir forward Stepan Sannikov, who paid a fine and served a one-match suspension after receiving a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for tripping during Friday's match at Torpedo, has been hit with an additional fine and ban.
It emerged that Friday's episode was the second time this season that the player had earned a 20-minute penalty, following a game misconduct imposed by the KHL Disciplinary Committee after the Novosibirsk team's home game versus Vityaz in September, and the rules for re-offending stipulate that a second such offense demands an automatic fine and one-game suspension. Stepan Sannikov must therefore miss today's home match against Jokerit.
