To mark the end of the seventh week’s play of the tenth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Jhonas Enroth (Dinamo Minsk). The Swedish goalie helped the men from the Belarusian capital win all three of their games (including one on the road) played during the week, recording a save percentage of 95.74 and a goals against average of 1.30;
– Best defenseman was another Swede, Jonas Ahnelov (Avangard). The 29-year-old D-man helped the Omsk Men to victory in two of his three games over the past seven days, contributing 4 blocks, 3 (1+2) points (the best total from any defenseman in the League) and not a single negative rating, ending the week with a +4;
– Best forward was Nikita Gusev (SKA), who helped the rampant Petersburg Army Men continue to defeat all before them, with three more wins from three games. Gusev fired off 14 shots and he scored or assisted in every game, ending the week with 8 (5+3) points (the highest total of any player in the KHL) and a +4. The 25-year-old forward's haul included four goals in one match – the victim was Lokomotiv – for the first time in his career;
– Best rookie, for the fourth time this season, was 18-year-old Jokerit forward Eeli Tolvanen, who was given an average of 16 minutes 55 seconds on the ice and helped the men from Helsinki claim two wins in two games (including one on the road), adding 3 (2+1) more points to his personal account in his debut season.
