The Kontinental Hockey League has unveiled the medals which will be presented to all the participants of the 2017 Week of Hockey Stars in Ufa. They were created by the renowned jewelers, ADAMAS, and will commemorate the three biggest events in the Week of Hockey Stars - the Youth Hockey League (YHL)
Challenge Cup (January 15), the Women's Hockey League (WHL) All-Star Game (January 19) and the KHL All-Star Game (January, 21-22).
The KHL All-Star Game medal has a diameter of 80mm (3.15 inches) and is 10mm (0.4 inches) thick. It weighs around 400 grams (14.1 ounces), is made of brass and nickel silver, and has gold, bronze, black and transparent plating.
The design is stylish and attractive, yet simple. The face of the medal is adorned with the All-Star Game logo featuring Bashkortostan’s national hero, Salavat Yulaev, while the reverse side is decorated with the monochrome emblem of the KHL season 2016-17.
The manufacture of the medals demanded a highly complex technological process involving more than 20 stages, including semi-continuous casting, milling, rolling, lathe-machining and engraving. In all, the production cycle of each coin stretched to approximately 8 hours.
In accordance with the tradition revived for the 2016 KHL All-Star Game, the medals will be handed out in original presentation cases complete with cradle stands.
Tickets for the KHL All-Star Game, the YHL Challenge Cup, and the first ever Women’s Hockey League (WHL) All-Star Game may be purchased via the official Week of Hockey Stars website or at the Ufa-Arena ticket office. Please do not delay – only a few days remain until the start of the biggest hockey show of the season.
