To mark the end of the seventh month’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the month in four categories. 


Best goaltender, for the second time this season, was Ilya Sorokin (CSKA), who helped his team win 8 of his 9 games, finishing the month with 2 shutouts, a goals against average of 1.23 and a save percentage of 95.12. Sorokin’s shutout series in March stretched to 175 minutes and 4 seconds; 

Best defenseman was Denis Denisov (CSKA), with 8 outings, 7 victories, 4 points (1+3) - including the winning goal in Game 3 of the series against Torpedo - and 12 shots at goal. Denisov did not receive a single minus on his way to earning a +7 for the month; 

Best forward, also for the second time this season, was Sergei Mozyakin (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), with 17 points (8+9) from 12 appearances. Mozyakin also struck 39 shots at goal, and his points haul was the highest of any player in March. Four of his goals sealed victory for his team, and three of these came in successive games; 

Best rookie was 20-year-old Torpedo defenseman Yury Sergiyenko, who averaged 16 minutes 51 seconds of ice time in 6 outings, ending the month with 2 points (1+1) and 10 shots at goal. Sergiyenko’s goal in Game 1 of the series against CSKA brought victory to the Nizhny Novgorod men.
