To mark the end of the sixteenth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.

Best goaltender, for the third time this season, was Alexei Murygin (Lokomotiv), who helped his team claim two shutout wins in two games and raised the bar for his rivals even higher. Murygin has now kept the opposition off the scoreboard in 11 games - a record for the KHL regular season;

Best defenseman was Vladislav Gavrikov (Lokomotiv), with 2 points (2+0) from three victorious appearances. The 20-year-old earned a plus in all three games, yielding a +5 for the week, and would have captured the best rookie award had he not also surpassed all the League’s experienced defensemen;

Best forward was Danis Zaripov (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), who in three outings recorded 2 wins, 6 points (6+0), 13 shots and a +2. Zaripov scored a double in each game and struck the game-winner in both victories;

Best rookie, for the second time this season, was 19-year-old Severstal forward Daniil Vovchenko, who played in three games and ended the week with 4 points (2+2), including 3 in power-play, 4 shots at goal and an average ice time of 15 minutes 43 seconds.
