To mark the end of the fourteenth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.

Best goaltender was Igor Shestyorkin (SKA), who helped his team claim two wins in two games, including one shutout victory. Shestyorkin’s figures for the week include an unbeaten spell lasting 96 minutes 9 seconds and a save percentage of 96.92 – the best figures in each category for any of the League’s goalies;

Best defenseman was Andrej Meszaros (Sibir), with two wins, 13 shots at goal, 3 points (3+0) and a +3 from three appearances. One of Meszaros’s goals sealed victory against Severstal, while the other two turned a late 1-2 deficit in Minsk into a heroic overtime win.

Best forward was October’s finest attacker, Nigel Dawes (Barys), with 6 points (3+3) from three victorious outings and a +4 for the week. Dawes celebrated a hat-trick against Medvescak, including the game-winner, and took points from every game;

Best rookie was 21-year-old HC Sochi forward Vadim Shchegolkov, whose account shows 3 points (1+2) from three games and a +2 for the week. Shchegolkov also contributed 3 hits and 8 shots at goal, averaged 10 minutes 12 seconds of ice time and did not receive a minus rating in either game.
