December’s finest: Garnett, Bailen, Kugryshev & Musin
To mark the end of the fourth month’s play of the seventh season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the month in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Michael Garnett (Traktor), who in seven games recorded one shutout, a goals against average of 1. 68 and a save percentage of 94. 83;
– Best defenseman was Nick Bailen (Dinamo Minsk), with 10 points (2+8) from eight outings and a +9;
– Best forward was Dmitry Kugryshev (Sibir), whose haul of 16 points (8+8) from nine appearances included two hat-tricks;
– Best rookie was 20-year-old Ak Bars defenseman Damir Musin, who played in five games, finishing the month with an assist and a +4.
