Dubai to host KHL World Games between Avangard and Ak Bars on December 3
On October 17, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the United Arab Emirates between the Kontinental Hockey League, Avangard hockey club, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and Dubai Sports Council. The parties agreed to develop ice hockey in the UAE, with the Dubai Ice Show the first step towards achieving the goal.
Hitting the heights – the KHL World Games in Davos
Monday’s match-up in Switzerland, 1,600m above sea level, was a high spot in every sense of the word. On the ice, a pulsating Green Derby battle between Salavat Yulaev and Ak Bars delivered all the high-octane thrills associated with the best of the KHL. Off it, both the clubs and the league made new friends and were able to showcase the high levels of organization and professionalism to be found in KHL arenas from Belarus to Beijing.
A thriller in Davos – Ufa edges Kazan
Salavat Yulaev and Ak Bars played out a fantastic game as part of this season’s KHL World Games, leaving thousands of Swiss fans happy with their taste of KHL action. The attendance of 4,268 was comparable with the crowds that watch local heroes HC Davos in the Swiss Championship, and the crowd would surely have been bigger were it not for heavy snows that disrupted travel around the arena. Once again, the event was a good showcase for the KHL, highlighting the skills of its players and the competitiveness of its games.
‘Let’s have more of these games in Europe!’
Monday sees the Green Derby take place in Davos, Switzerland as part of the KHL World Games. A few hours before the puck drops at 1930 local time (2130 Moscow time), the players and coaches of Salavat Yulaev and Ak Bars went for their pre-game skates and talked about their impressions and expectations ahead of the game.

KHL World Games. European show. What happened a year ago
On Dec. 23, the Green Derby plays in Davos, Switzerland, for an event that goes under the KHL World Games brand. One year ago, the KHL landed on a new spot on its map. The KHL World Games had its first game in the Austrian capital when on the ice of the Erste Bank Arena Slovan Bratislava clashed with CSKA and SKA. Phase two of the KHL World Games was another success. Coming to Zurich, a city with a notoriously hard-to-please hockey audience, the players of Dinamo Riga, SKA and CSKA put on a display of high-quality sport. Moreover, the event drew plaudits for the highly professional staging of the games and the technological advancement of the KHL’s presentation of the sport.

Back in Zurich, the KHL World Games continued with the match-up between table-topping CSKA Moscow and play-off chasing Dinamo Riga. The Army Men wanted to extend their long winning streak, Dinamo was out to show that it could go one better than Monday’s brave loss against SKA. But before that, there was the small matter of meeting the coolest dad in Switzerland this week and catching up with some Danish dreams.
KHL World Games – SKA edges past Riga in Zurich
The second phase of the KHL World Games got underway in Zurich, Switzerland. This time, we saw a hard-fought, competitive hockey game in an arena that reminded one player of a theatre. We heard about four clubs in talks to join the KHL and, in the end, we saw a Pavel Datsyuk goal clinch victory for SKA to keep up the pressure on CSKA at the top of the Western Conference.
Martin Gerber – the KHL’s first Swiss player
The KHL World Games continue on Monday with our first ever regular season game in Zurich, Switzerland. Dinamo Riga will take on SKA St. Petersburg that evening and the Latvians will be back two days later to face CSKA Moscow. On Tuesday in Vienna, the KHL unveiled its plans for the KHL World Games to be played this fall in Austria and Switzerland. The KHL is coming to Vienna
VIENNA – world-class ice hockey is on its way to the Austrian capital. This October, Vienna will host the KHL World Games 2018. Two regular-season KHL match-ups in the city offer Viennese fans a unique chance to see some of the legends of the game, including several Winter Olympic champions and Stanley Cup winners and the Magic Man himself, Triple Gold Club member Pavel Datsyuk.
