After suffering a horrific loss against Barys Nur-Sultan, Dinamo Riga traveled to Ufa to meet with the local Salavat Yulaev team.

The new year of 2022 has arrived and it’s finally time to get back into game action. Dinamo Riga is back but in a troublesome situation.

The fourth and final meeting between Dinamo Riga and Torpedo Nizhny-Novgorod to close out the 2021 and to look for signs of things to come.

After having won two in a row Dinamo Riga was set to take on a familiar face - Bob Hartley returned to Riga as the home team looked to extend their winning streak.

A one-game road trip for Dinamo Riga saw them meet with their closest rivals in the standings - Vityaz Podolsk.

The international break is fast approaching and in the final game prior to it, Dinamo Riga was set to host Torpedo Nizhny-Novgorod.

Dinamo Riga continues their home stretch this time taking on guests from Podolsk.

After a short road trip, Dinamo Riga returned home to meet Amur Khabarovsk and begin their three-game homestand.

No hiccups on the way to Balashika for Dinamo Riga as they arrived to end their two-game road trip this time taking on Avangard Omsk with a familiar face on the opposing bench - former Latvian national team coach Bob Hartley.

After being stuck in the airport for many hours due to weather conditions - Dinamo Riga had finally arrived in Nizhny-Novgorod shorty prior to the game against Torpedo to begin their two-game road trip. Another hurdle to overcome but Riga knew their task at hand despite anything else going on.

Another day, another game for Dinamo Riga, and once again huge changes were made before the fourth meeting against Severstal this season. Valerijs Kulibaba no longer the main man on the bench has been replaced by Dinamo Riga legend - Vladimir Krikunov. Another attempt to reset things for the Latvian franchise hoping to crawl out of a hole.

Dinamo Riga were set to close out their road series where they are yet to see a W added to their total. They lost against HC Sochi in the opener and in a game where they came close to snatching two points - Ak Bars poured cold water over their hopes with a comeback with just ten minutes remaining. Final task at hand - Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk.

Dinamo Riga was heading into their second road game of a three game series. Their opener was against HC Sochi where the team managed to lose in a match that wasn’t action packed and the outcome was determined by only a goal - 0:1. Now a bigger opponent came in, Ak Bars Kazan whom Riga had faced just five days ago.

Dinamo Riga was set to begin their three-game road trip after having an extended period of on-ice action at home and having lost against Ak Bars they now moved on to play HC Sochi. An important opponent in an important game to try and manage a return to the winning ways.

A six game home-stand for Dinamo Riga came to an end this time facing off against one of KHL’s powerhouses - Ak Bars Kazan. Statistically speaking the visitors had an upper hand having won 18 times in 25 meetings. Prior to the match Ak Bars sat 4th in the Eastern Conference while Dinamo Riga were 10th and looking to close the gap to the play-off zone.

The international break is over and Dinamo were set to continue their long home-stretch that hasn't been as successful as they would have wanted as they entered the game with two consecutive losses. Their opponent Admiral on the other hand is one a seven-game road trip in which they previously beat the Vityaz team. When both sides met earlier this season in Vladivostok - Riga came on top with a score of 2:1.

Edgars Buncis - a hockey executive with plenty of experience and a big portfolio but one that has never played a game at a very high level. He isn’t your typical coach or general manager but he brings a lot to the table when you have to do business. Since March of 2021 the 46-year-old has been the GM of KHL’s Dinamo Riga team.

Dinamo Riga was heading into their final game prior to entering the national team break. This time their task was to face the team that has handed them the toughest loss yet - 8:0 in their first meeting shortly after Sergei Zubov left the team. Riga also hasn’t had a victory against Finnish side in their last seven meetings. A rough patch that they would have to get over

Dinamo Riga’s home-stretch is still on-going as they face HC Sochi side in the third in a row under the roof of Arena Riga. Both sides had already met twice during the season sharing victories in half presenting a potential fight for every inch of the ice.

Dinamo Riga continues their home stretch this time taking on the Dynamo Moscow team in a derby that has always been enjoyable for viewers and those that are out there on the ice. Prior to the contest Riga side sat tenth in the Western conference standings while Dynamo side had placed themselves at the third spot.

Jokerit came in to Sunday’s game being second in the Western Conference. Dinamo on the other hand were in 10th place, two points away from the playoff spot. The teams faced each other the first time in this season. The Helsinki team had won both preseason games against Dinamo.

Dinamo Riga is back on the road - this time to fight against their nemesis of this season - Severstal Cherepovets. It’s hard to imagine a harder game to play than the one Riga would have to get through tonight, a four-point duel and them going through massive changes. Riga is without their head coach - Sergei Zubov who stepped down in the morning when the team had to fly to their first destination of a two-game road trip.

The upcoming games will be played behind closed doors.

Red hot Dinamo Riga are back home for a game and would look to extend their winning streak. A lone home game in the Latvian capital means a chance to get to four victories in a row. The opponent that has arrived won’t be an easy task - Metallurg has been by far one of the most hot if not the hottest team early on in the season. Dinamo haven’t had much luck against their opponent as of late having lost four in a row at home to Metallurg and their last win dating back to December of 2016. If there’s a chance to take two points at home it would be right now and Riga were confident that they can achieve that.

It's a positive period for the Latvian side, who won again and climbed to eighth place in the Western Conference standings.

After a very hard earned victory at home against Sibir Dinamo Riga continued their two-game home stand this time taking on another eastern conference team - Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk - a team that has come fresh off of a victory against very good yet struggling Helsinki Jokerit side.

After netting four points on their far east road trip - Dinamo Riga is back home for a two-game homestand and a chance to claw towards eight place and the play-off zone. Their task at hand won’t be easy because straight off the bat they host Sibir Novosibirsk - a team that they lost against with a score of 1-3 just less than a week ago.

Dinamo Riga was set to finish off their lengthy four game road trip against their nemesis - HC Sochi. In previous 19 occasions when both sides met on the ice - the guest side had prevailed just once in regulation and prior to their first meeting of the season, they didn’t have any kind of victory on home turf but that changed when Riga beat them with a score of 2:1 just a few weeks ago.

Dinamo Riga continues their four-game road trip this time visiting Sibir Novosibirsk. Riga came in fresh off of a victory against Admiral and would be looking to extend their winning ways. An important game because Riga will have to face their opponent twice within six days.

Still on the road - Riga would be looking for a victory against a team that has struggled even more than they have so far. Admiral has earned just two victories in 12 matches they have played so far and for a good reason - the team was assembled towards the end of the off-season.

After a very unconvincing home stand where Riga didn’t manage to show anything they have traveled East for a four-game road trip. Seven hours difference brings challenges.

Dinamo Riga continued their two game home stretch this time taking on the visitors - the Severstal team from Cherepovets. Riga are coming off of a victory against Sochi - defeating their opponent on the home-soil for the first time in history while Severstal have taken off and have put together a very consistent stretch and currently are riding a three-game winning streak.

Riga is back home and looking to get back into winning ways against an opponent that they have never defeated before on the home ice - HC Sochi.

The biggest task at hand so far this season for Dinamo Riga was to stop the Moscow Dynamo team. A Dinamo derby has always brought entertaining hockey and has a ton of history. The hosts have started the season with a perfect 6-0-0 record while Riga has shown some spark at times and also has had some not so great moments and currently hold a record of 3-5-0.

Dinamo Riga went on to play on the road for the second time this season. In the road trip opener they had to face-off against Moscow Spartak side - a team that has great offence and it was clear that the visitors would have to keep their defensive walls tight in order to fight for two points in the standings. This was also an opportunity for Dinamo to earn their third victory in a row, something that they haven’t accomplished since February of 2019. Meanwhile Spartak have been off to a good start winning the first three games of the season, then losing two games against big boys SKA and CSKA.

Seven games into the new season Dinamo Riga have found themselves moments of sadness and moments of happiness. From big wins to big loses - the consistency and the correct path to playoffs is yet to be found. Just like everywhere in life there are positives and negatives and that’s what we are going to look at today - what they have done well and where they have to improve.

For the first time this season Dinamo Riga has managed to earn two victories in a row, after defeating Barys Nur-Sultan at home with a score 3:2. Johan Mattsson turned away 30 of 32 shots he faced and Frank Corrado, Sebastian Wannstrom and Emile Poirier were the goal scorers allowing their team at least for a short while climb up to eight place in the conference.

A thriller in Riga - consistent game from Johan Mattsson assured that Torpedo couldn’t erase Dinamo’s 2-0 lead to bring them a first victory in their barn with a final score of 2-1
