Salavat Yulaev and Metallurg set for Eastern showdown in four-game matchday

Preview
CSKA look to extend their winning streak against Amur in Khabarovsk, while Admiral welcome Lokomotiv in Vladivostok. In Ufa, Salavat Yulaev and Metallurg meet with both teams near the top of the Eastern Conference, and Neftekhimik close out the all-Eastern matchday against Lada, with four intriguing games promising plenty of excitement and uncertainty.

The matchday starts early again in the Far East, with a game in Khabarovsk and one in Vladivostok. After a shootout win against Admiral, CSKA travels North to face the Tigers as the Muscovites have now three victories in a row. Other than the Sailors, CSKA also celebrated wins over Torpedo (3-2) and HC Sochi (4-0) – all on the road. The Tigers suffered a home loss on Monday, to Severstal (1-4), but won the previous couple of contests, over Barys (3-1) and Dynamo Moscow (4-0), respectively. With the Tigers looking for a rebound and CSKA trying to build on recent success, it’s hard to imagine a favorite in this highly-anticipated game in Khabarovsk.

Admiral enters today’s game with only one win in the last four matches. The Sailors lost to Neftekhimik ( 1-2), Dynamo Moscow (2-3), and CSKA (3-4 SO), and defeated Severstal on Saturday (2-0). To return to victory, however, Admiral will need to defeat Lokomotiv. The Railwaymen won their first six games in the new season, but sensationally lost to Barys on Sunday (0-5). Despite the setback in Yaroslavl, Lokomotiv remains on the top of the league’s standings and will look to return to winning games as fast as possible.

Another exciting game is scheduled in Ufa, with Salavat Yulaev facing Metallurg. Both sides are faring well in the Eastern Conference’s standings. After a home loss to Spartak (2-3), Magnitka defeated Barys (3-0) and Neftekhimik (6-2), and currently sports the second-best offense in the East, trailing only Barys (22 goals to 27). However, Ufa’s crease will likely be guarded by Semyon Vyazovoi, the only goalie to have recorded two shutouts so far in the season. Salavat Yulaev enters today’s game on a two-match winning streak, after defeating Neftekhimik (2-0) and Spartak (3-1), with Jack Rodewald being among the league’s scoring leaders. It will be an exciting game in Ufa.

Closing out an all-Eastern matchday is Neftekhimik welcoming Lada. The Wolves had an excellent start to the 2026-2027 campaign, but have now accumulated two straight losses, to Salavat Yulaev (0-2) and Metallurg (2-6). Neftekhimik will likely push the gas to return winning games and avoid losing ground from the leading positions in the Eastern standings. Lada has recently suffered a huge loss to Barys (0-6), and then a good reply in a home game against Ak Bars, surrendering to the Tatarstan club only in extra-time (2-3 OT). Neftekhimik may look like the team to beat for todays’ matchup, but the Wolves must avoid underrate the opposition and keep on playing their best hockey.
