Games in the Far East and Kazan on a light KHL Monday
Three games are on tap today, two in the Far East and one in Kazan. First, Amur hosts Severstal and Admiral welcomes CSKA as the Muscovites will seek revenge after a home loss to the Sailors earlier in the season. Finally, Ak Bars clashes with Lada as both teams try to bounce backs after their recent defeats.
The all-Eastern matchday starts in the Far East again, with Amur hosting Severstal and Admiral clashing with CSKA. The Tigers enter today’s match on a two-game winning streak as they defeated Barys in Astana on Sept. 12 (3:1) and Dynamo Moscow on Sunday (4:0). Amur will thus eye a third straight win against struggling Severstal. The Steelers failed to score a single goal in each of their previous three games, which they obviously lost, making it a four-game losing streak after a 1:2 defeat to Lokomotiv in extra time. With their offense struggling, the Steelers will try to finally get the puck in the back of the opposition net and return to winning games, but Amur will also try to build on its recent run to please its home crowd.
In Vladivostok, Admiral hosts CSKA as the teams clash for the second time in the current season. On Sept. 11, four different scorers helped the Sailors claiming a sensational win in Moscow, while today the team will meet in the Far East. After that game, Admiral lost twice, to Neftekhimik (1:2) and Dynamo Moscow (2:3), but returned to win on Saturday, shutting out Severstal (2:0). CSKA fared better. After a loss to unstoppable Lokomotiv (2:3), the Muscovites bounced back with two straight wins, over HC Sochi (4:0) and Torpedo (3:2), respectively. With both teams coming off a win and showing good form, the game can easily go either way. On Wednesday, CSKA will travel to Khabarovsk to face Amur.
In the last game of the day, Ak Bars hosts Lada. After sensationally rallying back from a 0:3 deficit in the Green Derby against Salavat Yulaev to claim a 4:3 OT win, Ak Bars lost 2:3 to HC Sochi in another sensation, making it two defeats in the last three matches after a defeat to Torpedo last Monday (2:3). Lada has equally two losses in the last three games, including a 0:6 defeat to Barys on Sept. 16. Both teams will want to bounce back and start a new trend after the recent disappointing results. With 22 goals, Lada allowed the most goals in the whole Western Conference.
