Amur faces Dynamo Moscow, Admiral welcomes Severstal in a Far-East matchday
Two games are on tap today, both early in the Far East. Amur faces Dynamo Moscow trying to build on last week’s win in Astana, while both Admiral and Severstal try to bounce back after a difficult start to the new season.
The Far East matchday starts early, with Amur facing Dynamo Moscow and Admiral taking on Severstal. The Tigers had a disappointing start to the season, collecting only one win in four games, over Barys in their latest game, one week ago (3:1). Before that match, Amur suffered three straight losses, to Metallurg (twice, 2:4, 1:2) and Sibir (0:2). Moreover, the franchise has a chance to celebrate its 400th win in the league. Dynamo Moscow will enter today’s game on a much better position. The Blue-and-Whites have four straight wins, including a 3:2 victory in Vladivostok on Thursday. After today’s game, Dynamo will fly back to Moscow to face Barys on Tuesday.
In the meantime, in Vladivostok, Admiral faces Severstal. It hasn’t been the best start for the Sailors, whose latest win dates back to Sept. 11, a 4:2 win in Moscow against CSKA. Admiral collected losses in its other four games, to Ak Bars (0:2), Dynamo Moscow (twice, 1:2, 2:3), and Neftekhimik (1:2), respectively. Today can be a good chance for Admiral to gain some morale and please the home crowd. The opposition, Severstal, has equally had a disappointing start as both teams recorded an identical 1-3-1 record. The Steelers also have only one win so far, over Lada on Sept. 07 (1:0), with four losses, to Salavat Yulaev (2:3), Lokomotiv (1:2 OT), Spartak (0:8), and Dynamo Moscow (0:2). With only four goals scored so far, Severstal’s offense is lacking, and the team replied trading with the Shanghai Dragons to add forward Nikita Popugayev to its roster. The Steelers will then face Amur after today’s clash with Admiral.
