Barys looks to keep rolling in four-game Saturday slate

Preview
Four games are on tap as Barys look for a third straight home win against Amur in Astana. In the Western Conference, Dynamo Moscow face Dinamo Minsk in St. Petersburg, HC Sochi host SKA in their home opener, and Spartak welcome Severstal in Moscow.

The matchday starts in Kazakhstan, with Barys seeking a third straight wins in a home game against Amur as head coach Mikhail Kravets celebrates a milestone. The Kazakhs defeated Sibir (7:1) and Salavat Yulaev (8:6), showcasing great offensive production and excellent readiness at the start of the season. The Tigers are now in opposite situation. They lost three straight matches, to Metallurg twice (2:4, 1:2) and Sibir (0:2), finding a hard time in the offensive zone, especially if compared with Barys’ 15 goals. Today will be an exciting battle in Astana. After it, Amur will fly back to Khabarovsk, with the Tigers having their home opener in a week against Dynamo Moscow.

The action then moves to the Western Conference for three games. In St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow faces Dinamo Minsk as the Blue-and-Whites’ home arena in the Russian capital is busy for other events. Both sides have had a disappointing start to the season, with the Muscovites collecting only one win (2:1 over Admiral) in three games, with losses to Avtomobilist (1:2) and SKA (3:5). The Belarusians are yet to lose in regulation, with both games going to extra time, but they are also yet to win after defeats to Torpedo (3:4 SO) and the Shanghai Dragons (3:4 OT despite a hat-trick of assists from top-scoring blueliner Ty Smith). With both sides eager to win, the game promises to be an exciting one, also because of a heated preseason game.

In Sochi, the hosts face SKA. HC Sochi lost both games this season so far, to Neftekhimik (1:5) and Avangard (1:4), but today the team will likely want to revert the trend as it’s their first home game in the new season after two road matches. SKA had instead a nice start to the 2026-2027 campaign, with three wins (over Lada twice and Dynamo Moscow), only losing to Spartak on Thursday (1:3). SKA’s forward Nikolai Goldobin is currently topping the league with seven points. All things considered, finding its first win in the season will be a challenge for HC Sochi.

Closing out the matchday is another exciting Western Conference clash, with Spartak facing Severstal. The Muscovites appear to be in excellent form. After losing the inaugural game to Torpedo (0:1), the Red-and-Whites collected two straight wins over highly-rated teams, over CSKA (3:2) and SKA (3:1). Goalie Ivan Fedotov appears to be in excellent shape as well, standing in the crease for all three games so far. On the other end of the ice, Severstal failed to find consistency so far. The Steelers lost their home opener to Salavat Yulaev (2:3), defeated Lada on home ice (1:0), and lost in Yaroslavl (1:2). Andrei Kozyrev’s men will be hunting for point this afternoon in Moscow.
