Sibir win wraps up pre-season schedule
The final pre-season game of 2026 wrapped up the Blinov Cup in Omsk. With the trophy already secured by Lokomotiv, these two teams were playing for second place – and it was Sibir, boosted by Saturday’s rest day, that came out on top.
Blinov Cup
Sibir Novosibirsk 4 Severstal Cherepovets 0 (2-0, 1-0, 1-0)
Yaroslav Lyuznekov’s men made a flying start. Sibir had the puck in the net after just 35 seconds, but Evgeny Kuznetsov’s first goal for the club was called back for offside. No matter, two goals in the third minute put the Siberians on top. Mikhail Abramov and Stepan Nikulin beat understudy goalie Timofei Korolyov; Kuznetsov assisted on the second goal.
Severstal offered little in the first period, but improved in the middle frame. However, Sibir defended well and added a third late in the session through Anton Kosolapov. Pavel Tyutnev’s marker in the final stanza wrapped up the scoring for the game, and the off-season. Sibir takes second place in the tournament, with host club Avangard holding onto third ahead of Severstal.
The next action comes on Saturday, Sep 5, when the regular season gets underway with six games.
