Best players of September

The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best players of the Regular Season’s first month in four categories.

In December, the League’s teams played 103 games, with 583 players (44 goalies, 193 defensemen, and 346 forwards) taking part in the action. The scoring was at 5.48 goals per game.

- Best goalie for the fourth time in his career was Daniil Isayev (Lokomotiv), who won six games from nine last month. The Yaroslavl goalie faced 262 shots, or 29.1 per night, posting a saves percentage of 94.66% and a goals-against average of 1.45. Isayev posted a shutout in Lokomotiv’s home win against HC Sochi on Sept. 22 (5:0).

- Best defenseman for the second time in his career was Grigory Dronov (Traktor), who scored 8 (4+4) points in ten September games. The Chelyabinsk blueliner netted game-winning goals in matches against Neftekhimik (3:2) and Avangard (5:1). He also made 16 hits, blocked 28 shots, and made six pass interceptions.

- Best forward for the first time in his career was Dmitry Silantyev (Metallurg), who scored 15 (6+9) points in ten September games. The Magnitogorsk forward netted the game-winning goal in Metallurg’s win over Spartak (3:2 OT). He also made ten hits, blocked nine shots, made four pass interceptions and had four takeaways.

- Best rookie for the first time in his career was Mikhail Fyodorov (Metallurg), who scored 4 (2+2) points in seven September games. He also made one hit, blocked three shots, made two pass interceptions, and had three takeaways.
