Trade Deadline Moved, Shootout Series Shortened: Key Decisions from the Board of Directors Meeting

On Tuesday, July 29, the KHL Board of Directors concluded a remote vote during which several changes to the League's regulations were approved.

The following amendments were made to the Legal Regulations:

·        Goaltenders must now play 200 games and be at least 28 years old to qualify for Unrestricted Free Agent status.

·        An exception has been added to the "three-transfer rule" for players who join a new club via the waiver draft.

·        The trade and registration deadline has been moved from December 27 to January 25.

The following change was made to the Sporting Regulations:

·        During the regular season, the number of shootout attempts to determine a winner has been reduced from five to three.
