Best Players of the 2024-2025 fifth week

The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best players of the 2024-2025 Regular Season’s fifth week in four categories.

The League’s teams played 28 games last week, with 536 players (40 goalies, 174 defensemen, and 322 forwards) taking part in the action. The scoring was at 5.18 goals per game.

- Best goalie for the first time in his career was Ilya Nabokov (Metallurg), who won three games from three last week. The Magnitogorsk goalie faced 99 shots, or 33 per game, with a save percentage of 96.97% and a goals-against average of 1.00. Nabokov posted a shutout in Thursday’s Metallurg win over CSKA (7:0).

- Best defenseman for the second time in his career was Grigory Dronov (Traktor), who scored 3 (+1) points in three games last week. Dronov posted no negative ratings, ending the week with a plus-5 differential. He also potted the game-winning goal in Thursday’s Traktor win over Dynamo Moscow (4:0). He also blocked three shots and had three takeaways.

- Best forward for the third time in his career was Nikita Mikhailis (Metallurg), who scored 7 (4+3) points in three games last week. Mikhailis posted no negative ratings, ending the week with a plus-3 differential. The Magnitogorsk forward posted game-winning goals in Metallurg’s wins over CSKA and Spartak, blocked three shots and had one takeaway.

- Best rookie for the first time in his career was goalie Yegor Zavragin (HC Sochi), who won two games from two last week. The Sochi goalie faced 79 shots, or 39.5 per game, posting a 97.47% save percentage and a goals-against average of 1.00. Zavragin posted his first KHL shutout in HC Sochi’s win over Severstal on Tuesday (1:0).
