Neftekhimik hosts Lada, Ak Bars faces Amur!

Preview
Only two games are on tap on a light KHL Wednesday.

Neftekhimik will begin today a four-game home series and will attempt to break their losing streak. Nizhnekamsk has already lost six games in a row; however, in their last two matches, the Wolves managed to earn a point in each, tying in regulation time against both Lada and Dynamo Moscow (both 4:5 SO). Thanks to this, Oleg Leontyev’s team remains on the right side of the playoffs line in the Eastern Conference, leading their rivals from Togliatti by four points. The home team will be without forward Vladimir Bryukvin due to injury. Lada, after their match against Neftekhimik on Sept. 27, played one more game and lost to Metallurg (1:2). Ahead of the game against Neftekhimik, the guests parted ways with defenseman Maxim Mineyev.

In the other game of the matchday, Amur set off on a four-game road trip following a heavy defeat against Torpedo (2:7). With six losses in nine games, the Tigers are currently trailing behind the playoff zone in the East. On the other hand, Ak Bars is competing for the conference lead with Avtomobilist, having won six consecutive games. In their latest match, Anvar Gatiyatulin’s team secured a victory on the road against Avtomobilist (6:2). It is expected that forward Vladislav Barulin will soon return to Amur’s lineup after recovering from an injury. However, history is definitely on Ak Bars’ side, with Kazak winning its latest ten games against Amur, and the most recent win in Kazan by the Tigers is dated back to Nov 26, 2013 (2:1).
