Severstal faces Torpedo in lone game of the matchday!
The two sides have already met this season, on Sept. 4th, when both teams had their first game of the new season. Daniil Aimurzin potted a double, with Alexei Kruchinin sprinting his way in the dying seconds, sealing the deal for the Steelers with an empty-netter. Between the piping, Alexander Samoilov recorded his sixth career shutout with 29 saves.
Two weeks later, the situation is not much different, with Severstal having achieved four wins in six games, against only two victories for Torpedo. Most recently, the Steelers won two games in a row against contending team, having achieved a 4:2 win over CSKA and a 5:2 victory against Metallurg. Torpedo, instead, lost to Spartak (2:4) and HC Sochi (3:5). In this last game, Vasily Atanasov netted a hat-trick, which wasn’t enough for the Nizhny Novgorod side to secure a win. However, both teams feature players on hot streaks, and it will be an exciting game to follow even for neutral fans.
