Will the Dragons continue their run?
Four games are on tap on an exciting KHL Sunday, as Kunlun Red Star faces Severstal after winning both its first games in the new season.
Just as last year, the Dragons had a good start of the season as they won two straight games, against Dynamo Moscow and Admiral, respectively, with Nail Yakupov scoring again on Thursday. Tyler Graovac had his first goal of the season, while Yegor Petukhov’s hat-trick wasn’t enough for the Sailors. Tonight’s opponent is Severstal, who lost to Dynamo Moscow after winning its opener against Torpedo. However, Kunlun Red Star lost its last eight home games to Severstal, with the last win for the Dragons coming on Dec 22, 2017, a 2:1 OT win in Shanghai.
Starting the matchday will be Metallurg facing Neftekhimik. Both teams have one win and one loss, and they will be on the lookout for another victory, with Magnitka being the clear favorite for the contest. In the meantime, another intriguing matchup is Salavat Yulaev facing Traktor. After a first loss to Avtomobilist, the Chelyabinsk side had a nice win in Astana, while Ufa defeated Ak Bars in its first game in the season.
In the remaining game of the matchday, CSKA faces Admiral. The Muscovites lost their opener against Spartak, but have never lost to Admiral at home at the KHL level. The Sailors will do their best to revert the trend tonight in Moscow.
