Isayev, Nabokov, and Fucale named finalists for Best Goalie Award

KHL.ru presents the finalists for the best goaltender in the 2023-2024 season.

The Best Goalie award recipient is determined by a vote among all the Fonbet Kontinental Hockey League head coaches. Lokomotiv’s Daniil Isayev, Metallurg’s Ilya Nabokov, and Traktor's Zach Fucale are the three finalists for the 2023-2024 edition.

Daniil Isayev (Lokomotiv)

69 GP, 44 W, 92.7%, GAA 1.85, 7 SO

The second season in a row Isayev makes it into the top three goalies of the season. A year ago, he surrendered to Nikita Serebryakov, will he be able to claim this valuable award now? Daniil has become a starter for Lokomotiv and played most of the team’s matches in the regular season and playoffs without substitution. Together with the team, they reached the Gagarin Cup finals, where they lost to Metallurg.

Ilya Nabokov (Metallurg)

66 GP, 39 W, 93.4%, GAA 2.03, 7 SO

In his debut season in pro hockey, Ilya Nabokov managed to become the most valuable player of the playoffs. His game was one of the keys for Magnitka’s success in the elimination stage, but will Nabokov snatch also the top goalie award?

Zach Fucale (Traktor)

57 GP, 32 W, 93.0%, GAA 2.23, 6 SO

Traktor had a strong showing in the playoffs, reaching Gagarin Cup semifinals. One of the team’s leaders undoubtedly was goalie Zach Fucale, who charged up his teammates not only with saves but also with emotions in the locker room and on the ice. But will this be enough to become the best goalie of the season?

Georgy Gelashvili, Petri Vehanen, Konstantin Barulin, Alexander Yeryomenko (twice), Vasily Koshechkin (twice), Mikko Koskinen, Edward Pasquale, Ilya Sorokin, Pavel Francouz, Juha Metsola, Timur Bilyalov, Ivan Fedotov, and Nikita Serebryakov have won this award in the past.
