Game three today in both Conferences!
Three games are on tap today, with Avangard being the only team in command as it won two games over Lada. Metallurg will travel to Khabarovsk, while the series between SKA and Torpedo moves to Nizhny Novgorod.
12:00: Amur vs Metallurg
Series stand
1-1 (1:2, 3:2)
About the game
A well-executed one-two punch sent down Magnitka in games two’s second period, with the Tigers roaring with two goals and shocking the home crowd after a swift game one win. Yegor Korshkov’s goal sent Amur up by two, and a Luke Johnson’s tally late in the closing frame wasn’t enough to save the game for the Andrei Razin’s men, who are now called to a difficult travel to Khabarovsk.
Amur’s forward Dmitry Shevchenko is on a three-game scoring streak, with 4 (2+2) points over that span.
Amur’s forward Jan Drozg is on a four-game scoring streak, with 6 (2+4) points.
Injury list
Amur: Evgeny Grachyov, Pyotr Khokhryakov, Cameron Lee, Sergei Lapin.
18:00: Lada vs Avangard
Series stand
0-2 (1:5, 2:3 OT)
About the game
Avangard’s Ivan Nikolishin netted his first goal of this year’s Gagarin Cup playoffs as the Hawks secured a two-game advantage in the series with an OT win against Lada. 50 saves by goalie Vladislav Podyapolsky weren’t enough for Lada to stop Avangard’s attacks. The series will now move to Togliatti as the home team desperately needs a win.
Avangard’s Ivan Nikolishin is on a four-game scoring streak, with 5 (3+2) points over that span.
Injury list
Lada: Nikolai Demidov, Alexei Ozhgikhin, Ivan Romanov.
Avangard: Roman Abrosimov, Ivan Telegin.
Milestone alert
Lada’s goalie Vladislav Podyapolsky may celebrate his 100th KHL win.
19:30: Torpedo vs SKA
Series stand
1-1 (5:2, 2:3 OT)
About the game
Igor Larionov’s young guns were just a few minutes into making it a 2-0 series after game one’s triumph, but a late equalizer by Mikhail Vorobyov sent the game to extra time after both goalies saw plenty of action in an offense-first game. In OT, however, SKA got a full reward for his home ice advantage and outshot Torpedo, despite needing a further extra period. Vasily Glotov’s tally at the 92nd minute of action – the forward was one of the most active players on the ice today – set the mark on the longest postseason game so far this year with a St. Petersburg win as the series moves to Nizhny Novgorod.
SKA’s forward Sergei Tolchinsky is on a four-game scoring streak, with 7 (4+3) points over that span.
Injury list
Torpedo: Kirill Kirsanov.
SKA: Vladimir Alistrov, Andrei Pedan, Borna Rendulic, Ivan Zinchenko.
