Gusev’s possible record in Dynamo Moscow’s clash with Severstal

Preview
Nikita Gusev has amassed 84 (22+62) points so far this year, and this means that he only lacks one point to tie Sergei Mozyakin’s record for the most points in a single regular season. Today’s opponent will be Severstal – the Muscovites have defeated the Cherepovets side three times this season, and they will also try to surpass SKA on the top of the Western Conference’s standings.

The KHL matchday will however start in the East, with Avangard hosting Lada trying to protect its first place in the standings. With just one point more than Magnitka, the Hawks will face the KHL newcomer for the fourth time this season. Lada will likely try to return to winning games after seven consecutive losses, but it will be a difficult away match for the Togliatti side. Metallurg, on its hand, will face Amur – the teams have a good chance to meet each other in the postseason and it will be interesting to check whether the two sides will create a high-scoring game just like the most recent one – a 6:7 victory in favor of the Khabarovsk side, who is riding a seven-game winning streak.

In the other two Eastern games of the night, Barys hosts Avtomobilist, while Traktor welcomes Vityaz. All the postseason participants are known now, but the teams will still have motivation for the last few remaining games of the season.

The action then moves to the Western Conference, with two games in Moscow. Other than Dynamo welcoming Severstal, CSKA faces Sibir trying to return to victory after two straight losses.
