Four teams hit the ice today!

Preview
Barys returns to the ice after a 0:1, SO loss to Ak Bars on Jan 9 as the Kazakhs had a less-than-exciting start of 2024, with just a win in four games – in their very first game of the year in Yaroslavl (5:4 SO). With yesterday Admiral’s win over Sibir, Barys has slipped down to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings and its playoff qualification hopes are getting slimmer, with the Novosibirsk side being up by fifteen points. The Kazakhs host Lada today. The KHL newcomer has finally halted a skid on Saturday, achieving a strong-willed, road win over Avtomobilist (4:3 OT), and is now in sixth place in the East, tied with Traktor at 61 points. In this year’s other encounter, Lada defeated Barys 2:1, with Ostap Safin netting the game winner.

In the other game of the matchday, Avtomobilist hosts CSKA. The Motormen kept a spot in the Eastern Conference’s top four despite their loss to Lada, while CSKA is on a disappointing seventh place in the West following yesterday’s Severstal win. It’s the first encounter between the two sides this season.
