Fourth clash between Avtomobilist and Metallurg!
Another Ural Derby will take place in Yekaterinburg. Previously, Metallurg defeated the Motormen twice (4:2, 2:1 OT) and lost once (2:3 OT). Currently, the home team has two consecutive victories, over Traktor (2:1) and Vityaz (3:2 OT). In the game against the Moscow region team, coached by Nikolai Zavarukhin, the home team managed to equalize the score just 19 seconds before the final hooter. A similar scenario applies to the Steelers, who defeated Sibir (4:2) and Barys (4:3 OT) on the road. Metallurg is currently leading the Eastern Conference, with Avto chasing in third place. The Motormen keep on having to rely on an injury-plagued squad, with six players sitting on injiry list.
In the other game of the KHL matchday, Traktor hosts Amur. Both sides are trying to return to victory and rack up some points for their playoff push. With that being said, Traktor has recorded two straight wins after losing to Avtomobilist in its most recent match. History is on the Chelyabinsk squad’s side, with 26 victories against 11.
