The Best Goalie award recipient is determined by a vote among all the Kontinental Hockey League head coaches. Vityaz’s Maxim Dorozhko, Lokomotiv’s Daniil Isayev, and Admiral’s Nikita Serebryakov are the three finalists for the 2022-2023 edition.
44 GP, 18 W, 94.1%, GAA 2.01, 3 SO
The 24-years-old goalie had his debut season in 2022-2023. He was one of the key players for Vityaz, and took part in the KHL All-Star Game in December. Then, he led his team to a playoff spot. He recorded a shutout in his first postseason contest, with Vityaz winning its first game ever in the elimination stage. Dorozhko posted the second-best saves percentage in the regular season.
50 GP, 28 W, 93.4%, GAA 1.61, 7 SO
Isayev won the starting goalie position in Yaroslavl last year, but he only played 11 KHL games. Just as Dorozhko, Isayev participated in the KHL All-Star Game in December. He posted the fourth-best saves percentage in the regular season and led the league with the best goals-against average.
62 GP, 26 W, 94.4%, GAA 1.82, 6 SO
Serebryakov is the most experienced goalie in the goalie of the year nominations. He ended the regular season with the best saves percentage and the second-best goals-against average in the league. He led Admiral returning to the playoff following a six-year hiatus, and helped the Sailors reaching the second round for the first time ever.
Georgy Gelashvili, Petri Vehanen, Konstantin Barulin, Alexander Yeryomenko (twice), Vasily Koshechkin (twice), Mikko Koskinen, Edward Pasquale, Ilya Sorokin, Pavel Francouz, Juha Metsola, Timur Bilyalov, and Ivan Fedotov have won this award in the past.
