After reviewing all the materials submitted by the League, the Board of Directors decided to approve the number of participants in the 2023-2024 Fonbet Kontinental Hockey League – 23 teams will take part in the action.
In particular, the new season will see the return of Lada Togliatti. The famous club, which spent six seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League, was part of the VHL for the last five years, between 2018-2023. However, it was one of the teams that participated in the inaugural season of the KHL and has reached the postseason, when the club’s top scorer was Evgeny Ketov and its starting goalie was Vasily Koshechkin. It was Lada’s only postseason appearance to date. Earlier in its history, Lada had won the Russian championship title twice, in 1993-1994 and 1995-1996.
