Best Players of the 2022-2023 twenty-third week
The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best players of the Regular Season’s twenty-third week in four categories.
Last week, the League’s teams played 29 games, with 509 players (36 goalies, 167 defensemen, and 306 forwards) taking part in the action. The scoring was at 5.59 goals per game.
- Best goalie for the seventh time in his career was Ilya Ezhov (Salavat Yulaev) who won three games from three last week. Ezhov faced 68 shots, or 22.7 per night, posting a saves percentage of 95.59% and a goals-against average of 1.00. In the Feb 11, 4:0 Salavat Yulaev’s win over Vityaz, Huska posted his 30th career shutout. Earlier, Ezhov was named Best goalie of the week twice with Lada, Neftekhimik, and Vityaz.
- Best defenseman for the second time in his career was Joseph Duszak (Dinamo Minsk), who scored 6 (1+5) points in three games last week (best figures among all skaters in the league). The Dinamo Minsk blueliner also blocked two shots and had one takeaway.
- Best forward for the first time in his career was Maxim Shabanov (Traktor), who scored 5 (2+3) points in three games last week. Shabanov potted the game-winner in the Thursday game against Dinamo Minsk. The forward also recorded two hits and had one takeaway.
- Best rookie for the second time in his career was forward Matvei Michkov (HC Sochi), who scored 4 (2+2) points in three games last week. Michkov posted no negative ratings, ending the week with a plus-4 differential. He also blocked two shots and had one takeaway. He was first named Best rookie in 2021-2022 second week.
