Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod 7 Traktor Chelyabinsk 2 (4-0, 3-2)
Torpedo powered to a second convincing victory over Traktor – and this time Igor Larionov Jr was on the score sheet for the first time as a Nizhny Novgorod player.
The young forward followed his father to the club and today he scored twice in a game of two 30-minute periods. Larionov Jr potted the sixth and seventh goals for his team as Torpedo made it 13 goals in two games against Traktor.
Torpedo made a fast start. With Kenny Agostino back on the team, the host jumped to 6-0 lead by the 33rd minute. Agostino scored one of them, but Ilya Fedotov’s goal and three assists paced the onslaught.
In the closing stages, Traktor clawed back a couple of consolation efforts, but Agostino set up Larionov for a power play goal to complete the rout.
Dynamo Moscow 1 Amur Khabarovsk 2 (0-1, 1-0, 0-1)
Both these teams played their second games of pre-season, and both repeated the outcome of their first. Dynamo suffered a second loss after going down in a shoot-out against Metallurg Novokuznetsk, while Amur recorded back-to-back wins in Moscow following yesterday’s success against Spartak.
Just 24 hours after the previous game, Amur completely rebuilt its third and fourth lines. In addition, Vadim Yepanchintsev rotated most of his defensive pairings. His new look line-up did not miss a beat, though, and opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first period when Ivan Nikolishin found the net.
Dynamo responded at the start of the middle frame through Yegor Martynov’s point shot but another power play effort from Amur saw Ruslan Pedan pot the winner early in the third.
Vityaz Moscow Region 4 Severstal Cherepovets 3 OT (2-0, 0-0, 1-3, 1-0)
Vityaz got its first pre-season win at the end of the first stage of its preparations. Both teams played their last game in Minsk today before moving on to phase two of their summer schedule.
After losses against Admiral (1-3) and Sibir (1-4), Vityaz made a bright start here. Two quick goals early in the third saw Stepan Starkov and Alexander Avtsin open a 2-0 lead. That lasted until the third period, when Alexander Petunin halved the deficit.
Then Severstal stepped up the pace and turned the game around with two swift markers of its own. Alexander Zhabreyev tied the scores, then Robin Press set up Adam Liska to make it 3-2. Hopes of a second successive victory for the Steelmen – earlier they beat Dinamo Minsk 3-2 – were soon squashed. Kirill Rasskazov tied the game and Starkov delivered the OT winner.
