Dinamo Minsk 2 Severstal Cherepovets 3 SO (1-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 0-1)
Dinamo was looking to finish the first stage of its pre-season on a high. The Bison already had a 3-2 victory over Sibir and will travel to the Black Sea for next week’s Sochi Hockey Open, the first tournament of the summer. Severstal, meanwhile, was playing its first game since the end of last season.
Severstal was the first to show, with Semyon Lugovyak opening the scoring in the first minute. Dinamo tied the scores late in the opening frame, Zherdev among the assists as Dmitry Deryabin found the net. In the middle frame, the home team got ahead on Vladimir Alistrov’s goal.
However, Dinamo was unable to build on that advantage. Four power plays were wasted in the third period and that profligacy was punished in the final minute when Maxim Kazakov snatched a tying goal. Overtime could not separate the teams, and the shoot-out went to the Steelmen with Ivan Yemets potting the winner.
