The Best Goalie award recipient is determined by a vote among all the Kontinental Hockey League head coaches. CSKA’s Ivan Fedotov, SKA’s Lars Johansson, and Metallurg’s Vasily Koshechkin are the three finalists for the 2021-2022 edition.

In the 2021-2022 season, Fedotov won the silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, then won the Gagarin Cup with CSKA, playing almost the whole playoffs.

Johansson won the most games (31) among the League’s goalies throughout the whole season, playoffs included. The netminder also led the League in the regular season with nine shutouts.

This year, Koshechkin became the first goalie to achieve 100 shutouts in the top-flight Russian leagues ever. Moreover, he posted a record for the longest shutout streak in the Gagarin Cup finals, with 156:34.
Georgy Gelashvili, Petri Vehanen, Konstantin Barulin, Alexander Yeryomenko (twice), Vasily Koshechkin (twice), Mikko Koskinen, Edward Pasquale, Ilya Sorokin, Pavel Francouz, Juha Metsola, and Timur Bilyalov have won this award in the past.
