Dynamo Moscow 2 Admiral Vladivostok 1 (1-0, 1-0, 0-1)
Dynamo head coach Alexei Kudashov opted to run the rule over several young players, while Admiral continued with interim head coach Igor Gorbunov following the departure of Sergei Vostrikov from the club.
However, despite the experimental Dynamo line-up, it was one of the home team’s few established players, Oscar Lindberg, who opened the scoring when he redirected a Yegor Zaitsev point shot for a power play goal late in the first.
The Blue-and-Whites had the better of the first period, but Admiral looked to raise the tempo in the second. And immediately got caught on the counter-attack as Yefremov doubled the lead. The remainder of the game was evenly-matched, but there was just one more goal — a power play effort from Danila Palivko. That kept Admiral in contention, but the visitor was unable to salvage anything for its efforts.
