CSKA announced that Sergei Fedorov has been named head coach.

As announced on the team's official website, the Red Army will have a new head coach for the 2021-2022 campaign.

"After the Supervisory board meeting, Sergei Fedorov has been appointed as the team's new head coach. The club thanks Igor Nikitin for his years with CSKA and his excellent job, and wishes him best of luck in his future career," said CSKA Moscow president Igor Yesmantovich.

"The main reason is behind the team's result in the 2020-2021 season. CSKA always thrives to reach the top, which hasn't happened last year," Yesmantovich added.

Igor Nikitin was the CSKA's head coach for the latest four years. He led CSKA to the 2019 Gagarin Cup triumph and three first places in the regular season's standings. Most recently, CSKA lost the Gagarin Cup finals to Avangard.
