The Goalie of the Year is chosen by a poll among KHL coaches. Following that survey, we can reveal the three leading candidates for the award: Timur Bilyalov (Ak Bars), Eddie Pasquale (Lokomotiv) and Lars Johansson (CSKA).
37 games, 25 wins, GAA 1.92, 93.2% SVG, 5 shut-outs
Last season’s leading goalie Bilyalov continued to show top form this time around. He suffered just six losses in 37 games and his playoff results were even stronger with nine wins from 11 games.
52 games, 32 wins, GAA 1.76, 93.0% SVG, 9 shut-outs
Pasquale missed the first month of the regular season but in he first 12 games for Lokomotiv the Railwaymen were unbeaten. He’s only the second Loko goalie to win two player of the month awards in one season.
47 games, 33 wins, GAA 1.39, 94.3% SVG, 11 shut-outs
Johansson missed the first part of the season with an injury, but in the playoffs he set a new KHL record of seven post-season shut-outs.
Previous winners of this award include Georgy Gelashvili, Petri Vehanen, Konstantin Barulin, Alexander Yeryomenko (twice), Vasily Koshechkin (twice), Mikko Koskinen, Ilya Sorokin, Pavel Francouz, Juha Metsola and Timur Bilyalov.
The KHL Closing Ceremony takes place on June 8.
